Description

Pharmacological action of

The active substance atipamezole selectively blocks alpha2-adrenergic receptors, as a result of which the sedative effect of medetomidine (Domitor), an alpha2-adrenergic receptor stimulant, is eliminated. The maximum concentration of the active substance in the blood is reached after 10-15 minutes. Atipamezole is oxidized mainly in the liver, a smaller part is methylated in the kidneys. It is excreted mainly with urine in the form of metabolites. The elimination half-life is 1 hour.

Indications

Elimination of the sedative and analgesic effects of Domitore (medetomidine) in dogs and cats, as well as the need to eliminate the side effects of Domitore on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Contraindications

Antisedan is not prescribed for pregnant animals, is not used to eliminate the effects of other sedatives.

Special instructions

Due to the strong pharmacological action of atipamezole, contact of the antisedan solution with the skin and mucous membranes should be avoided. In case of contact with skin or mucous membranes, the contact area should be immediately washed with plenty of water.

Composition

Solution for injection 0.5% sterile, transparent, colorless, contains atipamezole hydrochloride 5 mg / ml as the active ingredient.

Dosage and administration

The drug is administered intramuscularly once, 15-60 minutes after Domitore. The sedative effect of the dominator is usually removed within 5-10 minutes. If necessary, reintroduction of antisedan is possible after 10-15 minutes. For dogs, the dose of antisedan in ml is equal to the dose of Domitor. For cats, the dose of antisedan in ml is equal to half the dose of Domitor administered.

Side effects of

Hypotension is observed in dogs after injection for the first 10 minutes. In rare cases, vomiting, rapid breathing, involuntary bowel movements, short-term shortness of breath and muscle tremors. In cats, with the introduction of Antisedan, the development of normal hypothermia after anesthesia is possible.

Storage conditions
