Pharmacological action

Ophthalmosan has anti-inflammatory, decongestant and bactericidal effects. Chlorhexidine bigluconate has a bactericidal effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses by binding cations of negatively charged cell walls of microorganisms and extra microbial antigenic structures, thereby violating the osmotic equilibrium and membrane transport of potassium and phosphorus macroelements, which leads to the death of the microbe. Succinic acid improves metabolism and tissue respiration (antihypoxic effect), improves energy metabolism, stimulates the restoration of microdamage to the eye, and increases local immunity. The complex of medicinal plant extracts has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and cleansing properties, eliminates puffiness of the eyelids, reduces irritation, redness and itching. When instilled into the conjunctival sac, the drug quickly penetrates into all tissues of the eye, providing a high therapeutic level of active components. Ophthalmosan eye drops, according to the degree of exposure to the organism of warm-blooded animals, are low-hazard substances and, in recommended doses, do not have a locally irritating and sensitizing effect.
