Description
Pharmacological action
Collar Dana Ultra is a combination drug with a wide spectrum of activity against parasitic ticks, insects and round helminths of small pets. Fipronil and pyriproxifen have a prolonged contact insect-acricidal and repellent effect on the larval and sexually mature stages of the development of fleas, lice, lice beetles and ixodid ticks, gradually secreting from the surface of the tape, they are transferred to the skin and hair of the animal, accumulating in the epidermis and hair follicles glands of the skin. Fipronil blocks the GABA-dependent parasite receptors, disrupts the transmission of nerve impulses, which ultimately leads to paralysis and death of arthropods. Fipronil has no effect on mammalian GABA receptors. Piriproxyphene disrupts the processes of chitin synthesis and molting of larvae, prevents the development of full-fledged pupae and causes the death of insects at the preimaginal phases of development, which leads to the cessation of replenishment of the ectoparasite population. Ivermectin has a contact and systemic antiparasitic effect on ticks, insects and gastrointestinal nematodes: toxascaris, toxocar, uncinarius, hookworm, trichocephalus and other round helminths parasitizing in domestic carnivores. Ivermectin, gradually secreting from the surface of the tape, accumulates in the epidermis, hair follicles and sebaceous glands of the skin, is partially absorbed into the systemic circulation, and when it is licked to animals from the skin and hairline, it enters the gastrointestinal tract, where it exerts its nematodicidal effect. Ivermectin changes the current of chlorine ions through the membrane of the neuromuscular cells of the parasite. The main targets are glutamate-sensitive chlorine channels, as well as GABA receptors. A change in the current of chlorine ions disrupts the conduction of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of the parasite. The Dana Ultra collar does not have locally irritating and resorptive-toxic properties.
Indications
Assign to dogs to kill fleas, lice, lice beetles, ixodid ticks and prevent their attack on animals, as well as to prevent ear scabies (otodectosis) and gastrointestinal nematodoses.
Contraindications
Contraindication to the use of the Collar antiparasitic Dan Ultra is the individual hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug. The collar should not be used for patients with infectious diseases and recovering animals. The use of the drug for dogs of the breeds of collie, sheltie, bobtail and their cross is prohibited.
Recommendations for use
After opening the packaging, the collar is unfolded and put on the animal, fitting in size so that between the neck of the animal and the collar there is a gap of 1.0 – 1.5 cm, then the free end of the tape is passed through the loop of the buckle and excess tape cut off.
Continuous use of the Anti-Parasitic Dan Collar Ultra provides protection for dogs and cats from parasites for at least 3 months. After the expiration of the specified period, if necessary, the used collar is replaced with a new one.
In the first days of the collar application, an attack and attachment of ixodid ticks to the animal is possible, but after 1 to 2 days, the parasites spontaneously disappear. Before using the collar for 1 – 2 days, it is recommended that animals with dirty and tangled hair be thoroughly washed with hygienic shampoo.
Frequent contact of the collar with water can reduce its effectiveness, so before bathing or washing it is recommended to remove it and put it on again after the animal s hair has completely dried.
