Description
Pharmacological action
The active components of the drug with different mechanisms of action, gradually released from the surface of the tape, provide a wide range of its antiparasitic activity in relation to larval and sexually mature phases of the development of fleas, lice, water-eating, ixodid, sarcoptoid ticks and gastrointestinal mites intestinal tract (Toxocara spp., Toxascaris spp., Trichuris vulpis and Ancylostoma spp.) parasitizing in dogs and cats.
Fipronil and pyriproxifen, practically not absorbed through the skin, are gradually distributed over the surface of the animal’s body, accumulate in the epidermis, hair follicles, sebaceous glands and have a long contact insect-acaricidal effect.
Ivermectin has a contact and systemic insectoacaricidal and nematodicidal action, accumulates in the epidermis and subcutaneous tissue.
The mechanism of action of fipronil and ivermectin is its effect on the value of the current of chlorine ions through the membranes of nerve and muscle cells of the parasite. The main targets are glutamate-sensitive chlorine channels, as well as gamma-aminobutyric acid receptors. A change in the current of chlorine ions disrupts the conduction of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of parasites.
Piriproksifen, disrupting the synthesis of chitin and molting of larvae, prevents the development of full-fledged pupae and causes the death of insects at the preimaginal phases of development, which leads to the cessation of replenishment of the ectoparasite population.
Dana Ultra collar is anti-parasitic in terms of its effect on the body and is classified as “moderately hazardous” (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), is well tolerated by dogs and cats, and has no local irritating and resorptive toxic effects. The drug is toxic to rabbits, birds, bees, as well as fish and other aquatic organisms.
Indications
Anti-parasitic collar Dana Ultra is used in dogs and cats for the treatment and prevention of arachnoentomiasis caused by fleas, lice, lice-eaters, sarcoptoid, ixodid ticks, as well as for the prevention of ventricular otodectosis and nematodes.
Contraindications
Contraindication to the use of the Collar antiparasitic Dan Ultra is the individual hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug. The collar should not be used for patients with infectious diseases and recovering animals. The use of the drug for dogs of the breeds of collie, sheltie, bobtail and their cross is prohibited.
Recommendations for use
After opening the packaging, the collar is unfolded and put on the animal, fitting in size so that between the neck of the animal and the collar there is a gap of 1.0 – 1.5 cm, then the free end of the tape is passed through the loop of the buckle and excess tape cut off.
Continuous use of the Anti-Parasitic Dan Collar Ultra provides protection for dogs and cats from parasites for at least 3 months. After the expiration of the specified period, if necessary, the used collar is replaced with a new one.
In the first days of the collar application, an attack and attachment of ixodid ticks to an animal is possible, but after 1 to 2 days, the parasites spontaneously fall away. Before using the collar for 1 – 2 days, it is recommended that animals with dirty and tangled hair be thoroughly washed with hygienic shampoo.
Frequent contact of the collar with water can reduce its effectiveness, so before bathing or washing it is recommended to remove it and put it on again after the animal’s hair has completely dried.
