Description
Pharmacological action of
Marfloxin 10% injection is related to antibacterial drugs of the fluoroquinolone group.
The drug has a wide spectrum of bactericidal action, based on the suppression of the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV involved in the replication of DNA of microorganisms.
Marbofloxacin, the active substance of Marfloxin 10% solution for injection, is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Citrobacter freundii, Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia marcescens, Morganella morganii, Proteus spp, Klebsiella spp, Shigella spp, Pasteurella spp, Haemophilus spp, Moraxella spp, Pseudomonas spp, Brucella canis, Staphylococci, Streptococci, as well as Mycoplasma spp.
After intramuscular and subcutaneous administration of the drug at a dose of 2 mg / kg, marbofloxacin is well absorbed from the injection site and penetrates into most organs and tissues of the body. The bioavailability of marbofloxacin is more than 80%. The maximum concentration of marbofloxacin, about 0.5 Ојg / ml in piglets and 1 Ојg / ml in calves, in plasma is reached after 0.5-1.5 hours. Marbofloxacin weakly binds to plasma proteins, in pigs – by 10%, in cattle – by 30%. The concentration of marbofloxacin in organs is higher than the concentration in blood plasma. The half-life in calves is 5–9 hours, in cattle with cicatricial digestion, 4–7 hours, in pigs, 8–10 hours. With a single administration of the drug at a dose of 8 mg / kg to cattle, the maximum plasma concentration of about 3 Ојg / ml is reached after about 1 hour the half-life is 15.6 hours therapeutic concentrations are maintained for 48 hours. Marbofloxacin is excreted from the body of animals mainly in unchanged form with urine and feces.
Marfloxine 10% solution for injection by the degree of exposure to the body belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4).
Indications
Marfloxin 10% injection is used to treat young cattle for respiratory diseases and mastitis, caused by strains of microorganisms sensitive to marbofloxacin for the treatment of pigs with respiratory diseases of bacterial etiology and MMA syndrome.
Contraindications
Contraindication to the use of the drug Marfloxin 10% solution for injection is an increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug. The drug is not recommended for use in animals with lesions of the central nervous system and in the case of resistance of the pathogen to other fluoroquinolones.
Composition
Marfloxin 10% injection for active substance contains 100 mg of marbofloxacin in 1 ml, and as excipients: metacresol, disodium edetate, monothioglycerol, water for injections.
Dosage and administration

The duration of treatment for cattle is from 3 to 5 days, pigs – 3 days. Perhaps a single use of Marfloxin 10% injection for cattle intramuscularly at a dose of 8 mg / kg for the active substance (2 ml of the drug per 25 kg).
