Solution for rectal administration

Pharmacodynamics

Microlax is a combined drug.

Sodium citrate is a peptizing agent that displaces bound water found in stool. Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate dilutes the contents of the intestines.

Sorbitol enhances the laxative effect by stimulating the flow of water into the intestines. An increase in the amount of water due to peptization and liquefaction helps to soften feces and facilitates the process of bowel movement.

Indications

Constipation (including with encopresis) preparation for endoscopic (rectoscopy) and X-ray examination of the gastrointestinal tract.

Contraindications

Increased individual sensitivity to Microlax components.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

If you need to use Microlax during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding), no special precautions are required.

Dosage and administration

Microlax is administered rectally.

Adults and children 3 years of age and older – 1 microclyster (5 ml). The tip should be inserted into the rectum the entire length.

In infants and children up to 3 years of age, the tip should be inserted half the length (see mark on the tip).

Break off the seal on the tip of the tube.

Press lightly on the tube so that a drop of Microlax lubricates the tip of the enema (to facilitate the administration process).

Insert the full length enema tip (children under 3 years old – half the length) into the rectum.

Squeezing the tube, squeeze out its contents completely.

Remove the tip while continuing to squeeze the tube slightly.
