Vitamins of group B (B1, B2, B6, B12), pantothenic acid and nicotinamide – are involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
Folic acid is inactive, but in the body it turns into a biologically active coenzyme – tetrahydrofolic acid, which is necessary for the biosynthesis of nucleic acids. It enhances growth and is involved in the maturation of red blood cells. Folic acid is involved in the formation and regeneration of platelets and their function.
Vitamin A – essential for the development of epithelial cells and the synthesis of visual pigment.
Vitamin D – participates in the metabolism of calcium and promotes proper mineralization of bones and teeth.
Vitamin C – accelerates the absorption of iron and is involved in many redox processes in the body.
Calcium and phosphorus – play a key role in the mineralization of bones and teeth. Calcium ions activate numerous enzymes, they take part in regulating the tone of the heart muscle, in the transmission of nerve impulses and regulate the permeability of cell membranes.
Water-soluble vitamins (B vitamins, vitamin C and biotin) – are well absorbed in amounts that meet the daily needs of the body. Quantities exceeding the level of tissue saturation, excreted by the kidneys and to a lesser extent, through the gastrointestinal tract. After oral administration, the fat-soluble vitamins A and D are well absorbed in the small intestine in the presence of fats. Higher amounts of fat-soluble vitamins accumulate in the liver and, therefore, are more toxic than water-soluble vitamins.
