The pharmacological action of

Iodopyron has a pronounced bactericidal effect on the body, showing activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms (Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus and E. coli strains resistant to antibiotics). In addition, this drug has anti-inflammatory and fungicidal effects.

Contraindications

The drug is not used with excessive sensitivity of the body to its components. Avoid getting the ointment on the mucous membranes and rinse them thoroughly if this still happened.

Special instructions

Caution. Children’s age, pregnancy, period of breastfeeding. Use during pregnancy and during lactation. It is not recommended to use the drug during pregnancy and during breastfeeding (if necessary, use is possible under individual medical supervision). Avoid contact with eyes. Do not heat before use. Do not use for insect bites, domestic and wild animals. During use, indicator papers for detecting occult bleeding in the stool and urine may show false positive results due to the strong oxidizing effect of povidone iodine. Coloring on the skin and tissues is easily washed off with water. Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and control mechanisms. The use of the drug does not affect driving and engaging in other potentially dangerous activities that require an increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Composition

Active ingredients: iodine 4.1 g Excipients: potassium iodide 13.8 g, low molecular weight povidone 122.1 g, purified water to 1000 ml.

Dosage and Administration

Externally. 0.1-0.5% aqueous solutions are prepared from a 1% solution immediately before use. As an antiseptic for the treatment of the surgeon’s hands, 0.1% (active iodine) solutions (5 ml) are used, the surgical field is wiped with a cloth moistened with a solution. With extensive burns, the patient is immersed in a bath with a solution of 1:32 or 1:50 for 10-15 minutes. For complex treatment of purulent and infected wounds, osteomyelitis, disinfection of surgical gloves and treatment of elbow bends of donors – 0.5% and 1% (for active iodine) solutions of Iodopyron.

Side effects

Dry skin, itchy skin. Allergic reactions (flushing of the skin, urticaria). When applied to an extensive wound surface, a quick-burning burning sensation is possible, which soon disappears.

Drug interactions

Pharmaceutically incompatible with disinfectants containing mercury, oxidizing agents, alkali salts and acidic substances, with external drugs containing enzymes (iodine reduces the activity of enzymes). In the presence of blood, the bactericidal effect may decrease. With simultaneous use with lithium preparations, a synergistic hypothyroid effect is possible.
