Description

Pharmacological action

10-methylenecarboxylate-derived agonist, which is a part of Cardanone sodium, stimulates the production of interferon-mediated interferon virus RNA and DNA genomic viruses, including the plague virus of dogs. Cardanone is an inducer of the synthesis and secretion of tumor necrosis factor, increases the functional activity of T and B lymphocytes, thus preventing the development of an infectious process. The course application of cardanone is quite effective in animals with chronic and recurring viral and bacterial infections, as well as in animals with a secondary immunodeficiency state associated with viruses. The peak activity of interferon in the blood is observed 2-4 hours after intramuscular injection. In tissues and organs containing lymphoid elements, interferon induced under the influence of the drug persists for a day. The content of the drug in urine correlates with the results on its content in blood plasma. As its content in the blood decreases, the concentration in the urine increases, indicating its excretion through the kidneys. Cardanone by its degree of exposure to the body belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007). In recommended doses, it does not have a locally irritating, teratogenic and embryotoxic effect. Cardanone is a low-toxic substance that allows for parenteral administration to quickly create high concentrations in the blood, due to which a quick therapeutic effect is achieved.

Composition

Cardanone contains 125 mg of 10-methylenecarboxylate-9-acridone (gum) as an active ingredient in 1 ml, and 2 mg of trilon B, 1 mg of tris- (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane and hydrochloric acid as adjuvants pH 7.8-8.6 and water for injection – up to 1 ml.

Dosage and administration

Dosage is determined individually by the veterinarian. Dogs are given 15-20 mg of the drug per 1 kg of weight per muscle once a day. The course of treatment lasts from 3 to 7 days. In severe cases and with a delayed start of therapy, the timing of the use of the drug can be extended up to 10 days.

Side effects

Side effects and complications when using Cardanone in accordance with these instructions are usually not observed. With increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the active components of the drug and the appearance of an allergic reaction, the use of the drug is stopped and antihistamines and symptomatic agents are prescribed.
