Pharmacological action
Bone resorption inhibitor, bisphosphonate. It reduces bone resorption of Ca2 +, stimulates osteogenesis, and regulates calcium-phosphorus metabolism. Bondronate increases bone mass, does not inhibit bone mineralization. One infusion of 2 mg of the drug normalizes the content of Ca2 + in the blood serum, the effect persists for several weeks. In women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, a 4-fold intravenous injection every 3 months is accompanied by an increase in bone mass in the spine by 6.25%, and in the proximal femur by 2.96%.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, serum creatinine more than 5 mg% (442 Ñmol / L), aspirin asthma, childhood, pregnancy, lactation.
Special instructions
Monitor renal function, serum Ca2 + and Mg2 +.
Composition
1 tablet contains 50 mg ibandronic acid.
Dosage and administration
Tablets are taken orally at least 30 minutes before the first meal of the day, liquid or other than pure water, or other drugs and dietary supplements. The tablets should be swallowed whole, washed down with a glass (180240 ml) of clean water in the sitting or standing position and not go to bed for 60 minutes after taking Bondronate. Tablets should not be chewed or resorbed due to the possible formation of oropharyngeal ulcerations. Do not use mineral water with a high calcium content.
Side effects
Hyperthermia, flu-like syndrome (fever, chills, ossalgia, myalgia), decreased excretion of Ca2 + by the kidneys, hypocalcemia, hypophosphatemia, nausea, vomiting, bronchospasm (in patients with aspirin bronchus). Allergic reactions. Local reactions: pain and burning at the injection site, phlebitis.
Drug interaction
Aminoglycosides increase the risk of hypocalcemia.
Overdose
Symptoms: hypocalcemia (convulsions, Trusso, Hvostek, Weiss, Schlesinger symptoms, prolonged QT interval with isoelectric ST interval), impaired renal and hepatic function.
Treatment: Ca2 + preparations, hemodialysis (with a critical change in the plasma level of creatinine and electrolytes).
