Pharmacological action

Ointment Chondroitin-AKOS – stimulator of the regeneration of cartilage tissue in the joints (chondroprotector). Chondroitin sulfate is a high molecular weight mucopolysaccharide, which is obtained from the cartilage of the cattle trachea. It affects the metabolic processes in hyaline and fibrous cartilage, reduces degenerative changes in the cartilage tissue of the joints, stimulates the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans in chondrocytes. It suppresses the activity of enzymes that cause damage to cartilage, promotes the regeneration of the articular bag and cartilage surfaces of joints, increases the production of intraarticular fluid. It improves calcium-phosphorus metabolism and reduces the loss of calcium in cartilage, slows down bone resorption, normalizes metabolism in hyaline tissue, and accelerates regeneration processes. Structurally close to heparin, it prevents the formation of fibrin blood clots in the synovial and subchondral microvasculature. As a result of exposure, pain decreases and mobility of affected joints increases.

Dimethyl sulfoxide, which is part of the ointment, has an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and fibrinolytic effect, promotes better penetration of chondroitin sulfate through the cell membranes deep into the tissues.

Chondroitin-AKOS ointment has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, normalizes metabolism and stimulates the recovery processes in the tissues of the joints, leads to a decrease and disappearance of pain in the joints, an increase in joint mobility and to a slowdown in the progression of osteoarthritis and osteochondrosis.
