Description

Pharmacological action of

Ronaxan belongs to the antibacterial drugs of the tetracycline group.

Doxycycline hyclate, which is part of the drug, belongs to the semi-synthetic antibiotics of the third generation of the tetracycline troupe, is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Actinomyces spp., Clostridium spp., Bacillus anthracis, Erysipelothrix spp., Listeria spp. Fusobacterium spp., Pseudomonas spp., Pasteurella spp., Eikenella spp., Enterococcus spp., Enterobacteria spp., Moraxella spp., Brucella spp., Bartonella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli, Citrobacter Salmonida, Serrobia, Serratia, Serratia, Serratia as well as mycoplasmas, spirochetes, chlamydia and rickettsia.

The mechanism of bacteriostatic action of doxycycline is associated with inhibition of enzymes that catalyze the binding of aminoacetyl RNA to ribosomal acceptors, which blocks the interaction of the aminoacyltransport RNA with the 30S subunit of the ribosomal membrane and disrupts the synthesis of microbial cell protein.

After oral administration of the drug, doxycycline hyclate is easily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and reaches the systemic circulation, the maximum plasma concentration is observed 3 hours after administration, remaining at the therapeutic level for 24 hours, it easily penetrates most organs and tissues, is metabolized in the liver with the formation of inactive metabolites, excreted mainly with feces and urine.

Ronaxan is classified as a moderately hazardous substance in terms of its effect on the body (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76) it does not have sensitizing, teratogenic and embryotoxic effects in recommended doses.

Indications

Ronaxan is prescribed for cats and dogs for therapeutic purposes in diseases of the respiratory system (rhinitis, tonsillitis, bronchopneumonia), the genitourinary system (cystitis, pyelonephritis, prostatitis, endometritis), skin (purulent dermatitis, abscesses, abscesses, and other infections) and other to doxycycline.

Contraindications

Contraindication to use is the increased sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug and antibiotics of the tetracycline group, pronounced impaired liver and / or kidney function.

Ronaxan should not be used by pregnant and lactating females, as well as puppies and kittens during tooth development.

Composition

Ronaxan tablets for oral use contain doxycycline (in the form of a cyclate) as an active ingredient – 20 mg / tablet, as well as excipients: magnesium stearate and microcrystal cellulose.

Dosage and administration of

Ronaxan is administered to animals individually orally in a mixture with food or is forced on the tongue root once a day at a dose of 10 mg of doxycycline per 1 kg of animal weight. The course of treatment for acute diseases is 3-5 days, for chronic – 8-10 days.

As directed by a veterinarian, dosage and duration of use may be increased.

In case of an overdose of Ronaxan, the animal may experience vomiting, refusal to feed, and impaired coordination of movement. In this case, stop using the drug and prescribe symptomatic therapy.

Peculiarities of the action of the drug during its first use and withdrawal have not been identified.

Pregnant and lactating females Ronaxan is used for health reasons under the supervision of the attending veterinarian, since with systemic absorption, the drug can cause impaired development of fetal bone tissue.

Skipping the next dose of the drug should be avoided, as this may lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If one dose is missed, the use of the drug is resumed in the same dose according to the same scheme.

Side effects

When using the drug in accordance with these instructions, side effects and complications in animals, as a rule, are not observed.

With increased individual sensitivity to tetracyclines and the occurrence of allergic reactions, the drug is discontinued and antihistamines and symptomatic therapy are prescribed to the animal.
