Description

Pharmacological action

Onsior injection for injection refers to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Robenacoxib, which is part of the drug, is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the coxib group, is a selective specific COX-2 inhibitor and has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. COX is presented in two forms: COX-1 – a constitutive form of the enzyme – performs protective functions including in the gastrointestinal tract and kidneys, COX-2 – an inducible form of the enzyme – is responsible for the production of mediators, including PGE, causing pain, inflammation and fever. After subcutaneous administration of the drug, robenacoxib is rapidly absorbed from the injection site, enters the systemic circulation and most organs and tissues of more than 99% of robenacoxib binds to plasma proteins. Its maximum plasma concentration is observed after 1 hour, bioavailability is 69% in cats and 88% in dogs. Robenacoxib is metabolized in the liver, excreted mainly with bile (about 70% in cats and about 65% in dogs) and partially with urine, the elimination half-life from dogs is about 1.2 hours, and cats – 1.1 hours. Onsior ² žÑž injection for the degree of exposure to the body refers to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007).

Indications

Onsior injection is prescribed for dogs and cats as an anti-inflammatory and painkiller for inflammatory and pain syndromes of various origins, including acute and chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system (arthritis, arthrosis, synovitis, dislocation), inflammatory soft tissue diseases as well as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug in the postoperative period.

Contraindications

It is forbidden to use Onsior injection for animals in a state of dehydration, hypovolemia and hypotension, as well as for dogs and cats weighing less than 2.5 kg. If it is absolutely necessary to prescribe a drug for such animals, treatment is carried out under the constant supervision of a veterinarian. Contraindication to use is an individual hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug. The drug should not be used in animals with severe cardiac, renal and hepatic insufficiency.

Special instructions

Onsior injection should not be used concomitantly with other NSAIDs, and mixed with other drugs in the same syringe. The drug is not intended for use by productive animals.

Composition

Onsior 1 ml injection solution contains robenacoxib – 20 mg as an active ingredient, and anhydrous ethanol, poloxamer 188, citric acid monohydrate, sodium pyrosulfite (E223), sodium hydroxide, macrogol 400 and water as excipients for injection.

Side effects

When using Onsior’s injection solution in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications in animals are usually not observed. In cats and dogs, gastrointestinal upsets (vomiting, mild feces or diarrhea), these symptoms go away spontaneously and do not require the use of drugs.

With individual hypersensitivity of the animal to the drug and the appearance of allergic reactions, the use of the drug is stopped and the animal is prescribed antihistamines and symptomatic agents.

Storage conditions

Store Onsior injection in a closed manufacturer s packaging in a dry, protected from direct sunlight, separate from food and feed, at a temperature of 2 ° C to 8 ° C.
